Center Leaders and Volunteers...
With all our Learning Centers installing the newest Windows 8.1 Update 1 operating system, I wanted to give everyone a heads up as to the courses we are preparing and the target dates.
July 21 - Skill Course: An overview of the new Windows 8.1 Update 1 operating system
A short, 2-part workshop similar to the previous Skill courses on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
July 21 - Windows 8.1 Update 1, Computer Fundamentals
An Entry Level tutorial similar to previous version but lessons updated and new figures added.
August 8 - Windows 8.1 Update 1, Introduction to Computers
An Intermediate Level tutorial similar to previous versions of Intro, but we are updating and rewriting a number of lessons, adding new figures and including a new lesson on the Windows 8.1 Update 1 Start Screen.
August 20 - Adobe Photoshop Elements
This course will introduce the student to the basic editing features of Photoshop Elements using PSE 12's free 30-day trial download. After successfully completing this course, the student can then decide if they would like to purchase PSE 12 (usually discounted at Amazon) and continue with the upcoming Intermediate and Advanced PSE 12 courses.
We also plan to have Exploring Windows 8.1 Update 1, an Advanced Level course that we plan on having ready by late November.
All LEX manual downloads will include:
- The manual, by individual lesson
- A PDF print file of the manual
- Student files
- Instructor notes (must read)
- Promotional flyer
The instructors notes should be distributed to course instructors and coaches.
The promotional flyer can be distributed as an email attachment, posted on your website, or printed and distributed as a handout.
The series of Windows 8.1 Update 1 manuals include a full color cover of like design. Printing just the covers in color will give your manuals, and the whole series, their own identity and a touch of professionalism.
We're working over the summer to complete these manuals in time for your center to be able to print, advertise, and open registration for these courses beginning in September.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my editors, Cheryl Denison, Jodie Harper, and Barbara Hogan, all from the Hot Springs Learning Center; Karl Liss, Little Rock Learning Center; and Richard Dexheimer, Dallas Texas Learning Center, for their technical, editing and proofing assistance.
If you have any questions or would like additional information about any of these courses, please feel free to contact me.
Regards to all,
